On-Campus Presentations and Workshops

Each year, the CLS hosts a number of events for the language faculty on recent developments in language education and technology. These gatherings take a variety of formats, including roundtable discussions, informal demonstrations, hands-on workshops, and formal presentations. Events are led by CLS staff or by guest speakers from outside the university. Many of the events are open to anyone interested in language education.  Some workshops, on the other hand, are intended for a more limited audience and will require preregistration.

Presentations and Workshops by Visiting Scholars

Each semester, one or more experts in the field of language education are invited to Yale for a presentation or workshop. These range from morning or afternoon presentations to multi-day workshops, all geared to providing updates on current issues of interest to language instructors.

Brown Bag Series

Throughout the academic year, the CLS invites language instructors to a series of informal brown bag lunches on a variety of topics.  In some Brown Bags, language faculty gather to talk about a subject of common interest (such as heritage learners), in others, members of the CLS staff offer “how to” presentations on technology for the classroom, and in still others, faculty may present a paper they plan to give at a regional or national conference.  The informal, roundtable format invites a lively exchange of ideas.
