The Arabic Program and the Department of Near Eastern Languages & Civilizations are happy to invite you to a special event with the award-winning calligrapher and designer, Wissam Shawkat.
Shawkat is a world-renowned artist with an innovative and modern approach to classical Arabic calligraphy. He is the creator of "Calligraforms," a unique abstract style that transforms Arabic letters into independent visual elements.
This is a wonderful opportunity to learn about the art of Arabic Calligraphy and about his artistic journey, from his beginnings in Basra, Iraq, to his participation in prestigious international exhibitions.
To accommodate various schedules, we are pleased to offer two opportunities to attend.
