Event description:

Getting to know your Students (even before Shopping Period!): Pre-Placement Questionnaire, Placement Interviews, and Goal Setting Meetings

The Hebrew Program Faculty, Shiri Goren, Dina Roginsky and Orit Yeret

Join the Hebrew Program faculty to discuss a short questionnaire they have developed and piloted this summer. The Qualtrics based English questionnaire asks students about their paths to the language: previous experiences, motivations and self-reported level (based, in part, on the ACTFL Can Do Statements). It is sharable and can be easily adapted to respond to the needs of other language instructors at Yale.

The brown bag will also discuss two other forms of one-on-one interactions with new and continuing students: Placement Interviews, during the week before the beginning of the term; and Individual Goal Setting Meetings (“Intake Interviews”) which are held during or right after shopping period.
