Event time:
Thursday, October 10, 2019 - 12:45pm
Event description:

The possibilities for rich and meaningful engagement with the Yale University Art Gallery’s encyclopedic collection are innumerable. In this workshop, Liliana Milkova, the Nolen Curator of Education and Academic Affairs, and Sydney Simon, the Bradley Assistant Curator of Academic Affairs, will model strategies for using original works of art as teaching tools in language and culture classes. Participants will learn techniques for engaging students in active looking and critical thinking to serve a variety of pedagogical aims. The workshop will explore several ideas for designing productive course visits to the gallery that address the benefits and challenges of learning language through material and visual culture.

You may walk with us to the Art Gallery - leaving CLS at 12:45 pm or meet us in the lobby at the Art Gallery at 12:45 PM.
