Getting Help With Language Study

Expert Advice is an E-mail Away

Yale College students have a variety of sources of counsel (Faculty Advisers, College Deans, Freshman Counselors, etc.). While these individuals can provide important insight into many facets of your Yale education, occasionally questions arise about foreign language study that call for specific language learning expertise.

The staff of the Center for Language Study can offer assistance and advice to Yale students on a variety of topics:
  • Understanding and fulfilling the Foreign Language Requirement
  • Deciding what language to learn or what courses to take
  • Considering how language study can tie into future study or career possibilities
  • Other language-related questions and dilemmas
The best way to pose your question is to send e-mail to cls@yale.edu. Try to include as much information as you can, and we will either reply with an answer to your question or with information about how you can speak with someone by phone or in person. (If you would prefer a phone or in-person conversation, please mention this in your initial e-mail and we will be glad to schedule a time.) Though it is possible to reach us by calling our main phone number or by stopping by in person, sending an e-mail is preferred because we can schedule time for you with the person best equipped to help.
