German Placement Test

Overview
Students who would like to enroll in a German class are required to take the departmental placement test, except if they are absolute beginners or have already taken a German class at Yale. This test will help determine which German class you should take.
After taking the German test, your placement results will be displayed immediately on screen.

Technical Requirements for Online Testing
Mobile devices are not supported for the online placement tests. You should use a computer with a current version of MacOS or Windows and a recently updated browser. For Mac users, Chrome or Firefox browser is preferred.

Live support for Lingco is available during regular business hours through the chat icon in the bottom right corner of the screen.
If you still have problems accessing the test after contacting Lingco, please complete the Placement Test Support Form to request help. Technical support for online tests is available during all Yale workdays. On weekends and holidays, you may expect a response on the next workday.
